Meet the team

Mark is the Managing Director of Active. His interests include skiing, watching football and history and he once played lacrosse for Scotland.

Darren is Commercial Director at Active Business Communications. He enjoys watching football, walking and travelling and is on a mission to visit over 100 Hard Rock Cafes and purchase their signature ‘Hurricane' cocktail in each one.

Malcolm has provided sales and management consultancy to Active Business Communications since 1997. He used to play rugby but is now just a spectator and also enjoys walking the dogs, travelling (but not flying!) and watching formula one motor sport. He recently ditched his acoustic guitar for an electric one - he says he still plays just as bad but with the amplifier he can annoy more people!

Chrissy joined the customer service team of Active Business Communications in November 2006 and became Operations Director in January 2008. She loves to travel and plans to spend much more time indulging this interest in due course! In particular she would love to visit Antarctica one day.

Matthew joined Active Business Communications in July 2002 and is currently a client Account Manager. His interests include skiing and football and he even used to play for Nottingham Forest.

Gill has worked in the mobile communications industry since 1985 and joined Active Business Communications in September 2006. She enjoys playing golf and badminton, as well as travelling. She used to be in the Salvation Army, playing the tambourine (honestly!).

Nick started working for Active Business Communications in July 2005, stayed until September 2006 and then came back in April 2007! He enjoys travelling and has been the whole way around the world. He likes to keep fit, running the New York marathon in 2008, the Berlin marathon in 2009 and the London marathon in 2010. He's on a mission to do "30 by 30" - visiting 30 different countries before he's 30, spending his 30^th birthday in the 30^th country! He's currently on number 24...

Dominic started work at Active Business Communications, after graduating with a degree in Business and Finance from Bangor University. His hobbies are playing football, watching motorsport and remote control car racing. His claim to fame is that he won THE Remote Control Car World Championship in France when he was 11! Dominic is also a keen traveller, and has got his sights set on visiting Canada, Australia and New Zealand next - presumably he won't be driving there!

Lucy is probably the person you'll hear in the background if you call the office! She enjoys shopping, travelling and spending time with her son and once did a bungee jump in Kos (something she thought she would never have done!).

Paul’s interests include travelling, wine tasting and eating out and he once lived in a campervan for a year (whilst travelling the world).

Andy has worked in the telecommunications industry for nearly 20 years, bringing a wealth of experience to Active. A dedicated family man, his interests include watching football, walking his dog, scrabble and charitable work – he recently came second in a white collar boxing tournament!

Leah looks after a number of our customers. She enjoys (in no particular order!): shopping, partying, Disney movies and travelling (usually to places way above her budget!). She's really hoping to get to New York for Christmas 2012, and plans to visit Australia for Christmas 2013! She also enjoys spending time with her young niece.

Gemma works as part of the Sales Admin team. Along with Claire she keeps all the account managers out of trouble by ensuring their clients' orders are despatched on time! Gemma enjoys shopping, socialising and travelling (as long as there's a beach involved!).

Claire also works as part of the Sales Admin team, working on maternity cover. Claire has a passion for cooking and loves exploring cuisine from around the world. She loves finding out about new cultures, expanding her horizons and is determined to retire to either Australia or Cornwall one day - as long as there's a beach!! Also... after a few years in the wilderness, Claire has re-ignited her hobby of Irish dancing - make some room on the dancefloor!

Louise enjoys travelling, socialising, and taking her chocolate labrador and border collie for long walks.

Shona likes running, cooking and baking. She loves reading and is another addition to the office jet set crew, with her next holiday booked to Bali! Shona is currently teaching herself how to play on her newly purchased acoustic (lefty) guitar.

Adam makes sure things run smoothly in the office! He also keeps an eye on the stock room, ensuring everything is in order. He is involved in basketball - playing, refereeing, coaching and watching, and is another addition to the complement of runners in the office, getting out on the road for regular 10k runs. When he fancies a rest, he can be found playing on his X Box at home.

Barnaby works in the Marketing department here at Active. He lives in the Peak District with his partner, dog and baby son. In his spare time he enjoys running and completed two marathons in 2009. He also plays drums in a small band in and around Manchester and enjoys all the usual pastimes. When it all gets too much, he escapes down to his allotment for some peace and quiet!

Nigel’s chief pastime outside of work involves keeping his two boys Morgan and Theo entertained - often to be found playing in goal during garden kickabouts as (in his own words) he's too old to keep up with them! Nigel is also a big rugby league fan, supporting St Helens and follow them religiously. He's a big fan of American concept rock band Coheed & Cambria and Guns n’ Roses, and also confesses to having a mild addiction to Football Manager and his Xbox!

Alongside her role as Finance Assistant, Alex also supports the management team. She loves reading magical fantasy books, and also takes any opportunity she can to socialise with friends! She loves all kinds of music, from rock through to James Blunt and Cheryl Cole. She once spent a summer working as an Activity Instructor at PGL Adventure Holidays, and a year working away in Guernsey. Random fact - Alex is a keen WOW-aholic and she assures us that all those who play the game will know what that means!

Mark’s claim to fame is that he once met David Hasselhoff! He enjoys both playing and watching football (he's even played proper football in the New York Giants Stadium, New Jersey!), along with a wide variety of other sports. He has a great interest in music - many genres and many bands - and enjoys playing his guitar as well as attending gigs. He is an avid cinema goer, who'll watch anything from (but not including) Rom-Coms to Horror movies.

Phil’s hobbies include football, golf and poker. In between all this, Phil still found time to appear on Polish national TV in 2011!

Leonie’s interests include karaoke, (which she doesn't get much chance to do these days), holidays - she loves New York so much she's been twice and is hoping to go again sometime in the near future - cooking tapas dishes especially albondigas (Spanish meetballs) and spending time with her young son.

Mike lists his interests as playing football and pool (in a league). He's adopted a hippo, which is based at Chester Zoo!

Before joining Active, Nick spent some time travelling around Thailand and his passion for travelling means he would love to cross Europe in a 60’s VW camper van. He also enjoys music, being obsessed with his iPod and DJ’ing with a few friends every month. He also loves pizza and superheroes!

Simon initially joined Active Business Communications as a Trainee Project Manager. He enjoys all kinds of music, has a keen interest in cars and plays football more often than not! One day, he hopes to dive the Great Barrier Reef!

Katie works as part of our award winning Customer Service team. She loves driving fast cars and would love to own an Aston Martin DBS. Her favourite holiday spot is Cyprus; having been twice already she's got her sights set on another visit before long. Katie is also a big McFly fan - having seen the band 18 times!!!
