1997 – Active Business Communications is founded by Ed Liston and, along with Malcolm Gembitsky, the family business establishes itself in the North West’s telecommunications market.
2001 – Active changes trading styles and becomes a limited company.
2004 – Mark Boyle joins Active as Managing Director. The company has now expanded to 7 employees. In the same year, O2 launches its Advanced Partner Programme and Active is selected as an inaugural partner.
2004 – Active continues to enjoy a stable period of steady growth; headcount increases to 15 employees.
2008 – O2 unveils the Centre of Excellence Partner programme and selects Active Business as a key reseller partner in the North West.
2008 – With the backing of O2, the company now enters a period of rapid growth and quickly establishes a robust customer base.
2009 – BlackBerry selects Active Business as a partner to operate within the SME market place.
2009 – O2 introduces a new commercial revenue share model where partners and O2 equally share risk and reward. Active takes this opportunity to evolve its structure by introducing dedicated departments.
2009 – 2011 – As a Centre of Excellence partner, Active continues to thrive within the telecommunications market and organic growth continues.
2011 – The Board of Directors recognises the potential to expand Active beyond its mobile-centric core business and introduces new partners and products to offer a complete telecommunications, IT and telematics solution to its customers.
2011 – Active IT is created with the merger of Jason Stephanides’ company, Onsite Computer Solutions, to create a powerful IT outsourcing business. This proposition is further enhanced with the acquisition of IT specialist, Sirona.
2011 – Active partners with NEC, Zen, Gamma and ICS to expand its portfolio offer to include telephone system, advanced internet solutions, fixed line rentals, data services and the provision of non-geographic numbers.
2012 – Active enters a period of accelerated growth as an integrated IT and Telecoms solutions provider.
2013 – Headcount rises to 48 employees as the company meets the changing needs of its customer base across sales and operations and to support ambitious plans for the future.
2015 – O2 restructures its partner channel and Active becomes a Direct Partner.
Today – Active’s unique blend of heritage and investment has transformed the company into an innovative supplier of integrated IT and Telecoms solutions. As the converged world of telecommunications continues to evolve, Active has positioned itself uniquely in the marketplace to advance and expand alongside these advances.
